Vegetarian Sloppy Joe

INGREDIENTS

1 package Pure Farmland Simply Seasoned Protein Starters
Hamburger buns
1 Tbsp. olive oil
½ green bell pepper, chopped
½ yellow onion, chopped
3½ tsp. minced garlic
8 oz. tomato sauce
⅔ cup ketchup
⅓ cup water
3 Tbsp. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. yellow mustard
½ tsp. garlic powder
½ tsp. onion powder
Pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
Prepare the veggies: chop onion & green pepper.
Heat Pure Farmland Protein Starters with oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Break apart with spatula as it cooks. Add chopped onion, green peppers & minced garlic to protein starters halfway through cooking time, about 6 minutes. Continue cooking until onions are tender & protein starters are browned, about 6 more minutes.
While protein starters & veggies are cooking, make sauce by adding tomato sauce, ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder & onion powder to a medium bowl. Stir to combine.
Pour sauce over protein starters & veggies in large saucepan. Cover & allow to simmer until heated through, about 5 minutes.
Assemble sandwiches & enjoy!
