Tomato Tart with Protein Starters
1 package Pure Farmland Simply Seasoned Protein Starters
1 pie crust
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
3 Tbsp. basil, chopped
3 medium tomatoes, sliced
1 ½ Tbsp. olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Prepare tomatoes: slice tomatoes and set on paper towel to remove excess moisture. Allow tomatoes to drain while next steps are completed.
Heat Pure Farmland Protein Starter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Break apart with spatula and cook until moisture has evaporated and product browns, about 12 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
Roll out pie crust and place in tart or pie pan. Prick all sides and bottom generously. Bake at 400°F for 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, take crust out of oven. Add cheese, protein starters, and chopped basil as first layer of tart. Reserve some basil as garnish if desired.
Layer sliced tomatoes on top of protein starters, cheese, and basil. Brush lightly with olive oil. Sprinkle salt and pepper over tart if desired.
Bake on lower rack for 35-40 minutes, or until crust is golden.
Let tart sit for 10 minutes before sprinkling with additional basil. Enjoy!
