KOREAN BBQ “MEATBALLS”

INGREDIENTS

For the Meatballs:
12 Pure Farmland Plant-Based Homestyle “Meatballs”
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
Korean BBQ Sauce (recipe to follow)
2 cups cooked rice
Chopped scallions
Sesame seeds

For the Korean BBQ Sauce:
¾ cup dark brown sugar
¾ cup low-sodium soy sauce
½ cup water
2 Tbsp. rice wine vinegar
1-½ tsp. Gochujang paste
1-½ tsp. sesame oil
½ tsp. coarse-ground black pepper
½ tsp. grated ginger
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 Tbsp. water

DIRECTIONS

For the Korean BBQ Sauce:
In a small saucepot, combine all ingredients for BBQ sauce except the cornstarch and water and bring to a boil. In a separate bowl, stir together the cornstarch and water and slowly whisk into soy mixture. Cook until sauce thickens and remove from heat.

For the Meatballs:
Heat the vegetable oil in a medium sauté pan over medium-high heat. Add meatballs and sear until browned on all sides. Once browned add to reserved BBQ sauce and cook together until meatballs are cooked through.

Place cooked rice in serving dishes, add meatballs, and top with scallions and sesame seeds.
