Broccoli and Sausage Skillet

INGREDIENTS

1 Package Farmland Mild Italian Dinner “Sausage” Links
1 package of broccoli, cut 
3 Tbsp. butter or oil 
5 garlic cloves minced
1 Tsp. Italian seasoning
Juice of 1/2 lemon and lemon slices for garnish 
Salt and fresh cracked pepper
1/4 cup of vegetable or beef stock
1 Tbsp. hot sauce, optional
Crushed red chili pepper flakes
1/2 cup of fresh chopped parsley
1 Tbsp. fresh thyme leaves

DIRECTIONS

Lightly coat skillet with non-stick cooking spray. Cook links in skillet over medium-high heat for 6 minutes, turning occasionally to brown evenly. Add 1/2  cup water to skillet and reduce heat to medium. Add 2 Tbsp. butter, half the minced garlic, and red chili pepper flakes. Cover tightly and cook an additional 5 minutes. Transfer sausages to a plate and set aside.

Quickly blanch the broccoli in boiling water for 3 minutes until crisp-tender. Drain and transfer to an ice bath to stop the cooking. Drain and set aside.

 In the same skillet, lower the heat and melt the remaining Tbsp. butter. Add chopped parsley, thyme, remaining garlic, Italian seasoning, red crushed chili pepper flakes, and blanched broccoli florets and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring regularly, until cooked to your liking. Deglaze with lemon juice, vegetable or beef stock, hot sauce, and reduce the sauce for a couple of minutes.

Add the dinner links back to the pan with the broccoli and reheat quickly. Spoon the sauce over both. Garnish with more crushed chili pepper, fresh herbs, and a slice of lemon if you like. Enjoy!
