Basil Stir Fry
1 lb Pure Farmland Simply Seasoned Protein Starters
1 1/2 cups jasmine rice
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon chili paste
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cups broccoli, chopped
¼ cup Thai or Sweet basil leaves, loosely packed (see note)
Cook the rice according to package directions, then set aside.
In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste, and brown sugar, then set aside.
Place Plant-Based Protein Starters in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Break apart with spatula and cook until moisture has evaporated and product browns, about 12 minutes.
Remove from skillet and set aside.
Add the vegetable oil to the skillet, then add pepper and onion, cooking over medium heat for 4-5 minutes.
Add broccoli and continue to cook for 2 minutes.
Add the Protein Starter and soy sauce mixture to the pan and stir until evenly mixed.
Add the Thai basil to the skillet and continue to cook for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is heated through and the basil has wilted slightly.
Divide the rice into 4 bowls and top with stir fry.
Note: Thai basil has a slightly spicy flavor with a hint of licorice-like taste, but it can be hard to find. Feel free to substitute sweet basil, which is the most common type found at the grocery store.
